Lerato M is an incidental writer, an accountant and businesswoman by trade, who never set out to become an author but found that some stories simply refuse to stay unwritten. By day she moves through numbers and balance sheets; somewhere along the way, writing found her, and she's never quite put the pen down since.
Her debut poetry collection, Not All Wombs Blossom the Same, gave voice to the quiet grief of infertility, endometriosis, and a body that felt misunderstood, becoming a lifeline for women who have ever felt broken, unseen, or dismissed. She followed it with Girls Like Me, a tender look at girls and women who can't yet name what's wrong with their bodies, but know, in their gut, that something is. It's the book she wishes she'd had, one that tells them their confusion is valid long before they have the words for it.
Beyond the page, Lerato is a speaker who carries these conversations into rooms most people are afraid to enter, sitting across from women in uniform and women in ordinary clothes alike, giving each of them a voice they didn't know they were allowed to use.
She writes and speaks for the women and girls who don't always see themselves reflected, the ones healing, rebuilding, and still becoming. Her work is proof that softness and strength can live in the same sentence, and that every story, however unfinished, deserves to be told in full.
